Sanur, Denpasar Indonesia has shallow waters and plenty of wind for kite surfing but no regular surf really happens here. There is Bali Kite Surfing School and a kite festival in July. There are plenty of SUP rentals but the water is choppy so one must be steady on their board.
Colorful Jukung fishing boats rest on the sand, backed by a paved cycling path. There is a coworking space, a yoga studio, and a very chill vibe. There are many families, locals, nomads, and tourists. Sunset happy hours with Djs and romantic candlelit dinner gazebos. Beach massages and artist share their handmade items in an open airstrip market. There are art galleries and authentic dining from super elegant to street-side vendors.
It is a way from big crowds, quiet, relaxing and tranquil. Options for rooms vary from $20 a night to $300 all in the same locale. Beautiful views of the Nusa islands and Mount Agung.
Abian Kokoro is a great value with a restaurant and helpful staff.
